Easter egg hunts in and around Paris

Traditional Easter egg hunts are popular in France, and events take place each year in Paris and its environs. With chocolate eggs being distributed in parks, national monuments, châteaux gardens and a number of hotels and restaurants, these sweet activities offer plenty of family fun for children of all ages.

Here are just a few Easter egg hunts taking place in and around Paris in 2015:

Easter egg hunts in Paris 2015Secours Populaire is holding its famous Easter egg hunt on the Champ de Mars (Ecole Militaire side). The event takes place on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 10am to 5pm. In exchange for a donation, children receive a “hunting permit” giving them access to the egg hunt area and other activities. Coloured eggs collected can be exchanged for chocolate treats.

At the Conciergerie (1st arr.), the annual Easter egg hunt is taking place on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 9:30am to 5pm. Free for children and teens under 18.

Musée de Montmartre is holding an Easter egg hunt in its Jardins Renoir on Sunday April 5 and Monday April 6, 2015 starting at 2pm. The event is open to children aged two to 12. Free for children under 10. Included in museum admission for others.

Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière (46, avenue George V, 75008) is offering an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 5, 2015 in the hotel’s interior courtyard along with Easter-themed workshops for children. Open to hotel or restaurant patrons. For more information 01 40 69 60 60

Château de Vincennes is holding an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 9:30am to 5pm. Admission: 8.50 euros/6.50 euros. Free for children.

Château de Vaux le Vicomte (Seine-et-Marne), in partnership with Léonidas Chocolate, is organising the biggest Easter egg hunt in Ile de France, on Saturday April 4, Sunday April 5 and Monday April 6, 2015. Children and adults alike can take part in this event, which will see 85,000 chocolate eggs hidden in the château’s gardens. The egg hunts run from 10am to 6pm, with departures every 30 minutes starting at 10:30am. Admission for children is 11 euros. Free for children under six. More information 01 64 14 41 90.

Cité Médiévale de Provins (Seine-et-Marne) is organising an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6, 2015, from 2pm to 5pm. A total of 8,000 chocolate eggs will be hidden in the cobblestone streets of this UNESCO World Heritage site. The event is free for children under 12. No reservations required. Participants must arrive at the Office de Tourisme by 2pm. More information 01 64 60 26 26

Domaine de Saint-Jean de Beauregard (Essone) is offering an Easter egg hunt in its 17th-century gardens on Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2pm. to 6pm Admission 8 euros/6 euros; Free for children under 6. More information 01 60 12 00 01

Parc de Thoiry (Yvelines) is holding an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6, 2015, from 10am to 1pm, with thousands of chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies and special prizes hidden on the grounds. A special area will be reserved for children under six. More information 01 34 87 53 76.

Château de Breteuil (Yvelines) is offering an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6, 2015. There will be two hunts per day, with departures at 12:30pm and 5pm. Some 10,000 coloured eggs hidden on the grounds. Children can exchange the coloured eggs they find for chocolate eggs and story books. Château admission 15.90/13.90/12.90 euros. Free for children under six. More information 01 30 52 05 11.

Château de Chantilly (Oise) is holding Easter events, including Easter egg hunts, in its Potager des Princes on April 4, 5 and 6, April 11 and 12, and April 28 and 29, 2015. Egg hunts take place at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Admission 12 euros. More information 03 44 57 39 66

Ferme de Gally is holding Easter egg hunts at its Saint-Cyr l’Ecole and Sartrouville locations (Yvelines) on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 10am to 5pm. Chocolate eggs and figurines will be distributed to children ages 3 to 12 in exchange for coloured eggs collected on the grounds. Admission 8 euros (Saint-Cyr l’Ecole)/5.50 euros (Sartrouville).
