Jour du Macaron

Jour du Macaron 2015

Friday, March 20 is Jour du Macaron, a sweet day on which macaron lovers are invited to indulge in the tasty confection while supporting an important cause

As in previous years, participating pâtisseries will be accepting donations for Vaincre la mucoviscidose, a non-profit association that helps those afflicted with cystic fibrosis. In return, visitors are offered a free macaron!

This 2015 edition marks the 10th anniversary of the deliciously popular event, organised by Pierre Hermé and the Relais Desserts association. To celebrate this milestone, organisers in France are aiming to raise 100,000 euros for Vaincre la mucoviscidose.

In Paris, the participating shops are Sadaharu Aoki, Laurent Duchêne, Pierre Hermé, Jean-Paul Hévin, Arnaud Larher, Christophe Roussel and Dalloyau.

Numerous other Relais Desserts member chocolate and pastry shops throughout France will also be taking part.

Jour du Macaron 2015

An international event

Jour du Macaron was founded by Pierre Hermé in 2005 in the aim of creating a gourmand event in support of charities, notably those that help children suffering from rare diseases and other ailments.

It has been such a success that Jour du Macaron (Macaron Day) now takes place in several countries around the world, with monies raised going to local charities.

This year, Jour du Macaron is happening in the United States (François Payard, Epicerie Boulud, Macaron Parlour, BisousCiao Macarons, Bouchon Bakery, Chantilly, Eclair Bakery, Macaron Café, Mad Mac, Mille Feuille, Spot Dessert Bar, Sugar Plumm, Todd English, Woops), the United Kingdom (Pierre Hermé, William Curley, Alain Roux), Belgium (Jean-Philippe Darcis, Maison Wittamer, Marc Ducobu, Del Rey),  Germany (Frédéric Cassel, Galeries Lafayette Berlin), as well as pastry shops in Hungary, Japan, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

  1. Jour du Macaron is also celebrated in Vancouver, Canada! French Made Baking and Faubourg Paris are raising funds for charity on March 20. Last year Thierry Chocolates on Alberni Street also was involved. Great idea!
