Chocolatier Georges Larnicol drops anchor in Paris

The very successful Breton chocolatier and pastry chef Georges Larnicol has opened his first shop in Paris.

This Meilleur Ouvrier de France already has two dozen shops in France and reportedly plans to open stores in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo later this year.

Known for his playful chocolate sculptures and figurines — among which cars, dolls, stilettos, purses, Eiffel towers, champagne bottles, eggs, fish and even mussels — , Chef Larnicol also sells wonderful salted caramels, buttery kouign-amann (breton pastries) and colourful macarons at his newest store at 132 boulevard Saint-Germain.

Georges Larnicol is the adventurous chocolatier who famously built a 1.2-tonne, 3.5-metre long solid chocolate sailboat and sailed it around Concarneau harbour back in September 2010.

The store on boulevard Saint-Germain opened December 16 in the space vacated by Tati Or.
