Easter egg hunts in and around Paris

On Sunday, April 24, 2011 Centre des Monuments Nationaux will be holding chocolate Easter egg hunts (chasses aux oeufs de Pâques) at national monuments throughout France, including eight locations in Paris and the surrounding region.

It’s a fun way for children and their families to visit historic sites while enjoying a favourite Easter tradition!

In Paris, the event, called Oeufs, énigmes et chocolat, will be taking place at the Conciergerie and Tour de la Cathédrale Notre-Dame.

Chocolate eggs will also be hidden at Château de Vincennes, Basilique Cathédrale de Saint-Denis, Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, Château de Champs-sur-Marne, Villa Savoye in Poissy and Château de Maisons at Maisons-Laffitte.

In total, Easter egg hunts will be held at 53 national monuments around France.

Admission is free for children 5 to 12 years and their families and for those under 18 years of age.

Other Easter egg hunts/events in Paris:

 

  • Children are invited to take part in an Easter egg hunt organised by Secours Populaire and Kinder at Parc des Buttes Chaumont on Sunday April 24. Admission is one or two euros for a “hunting permit” with proceeds going to Secours Populaire for the benefit of children in need.
  • A free Easter egg hunt will be held at Hippodrome de Longchamp in the Bois de Boulogne on Sunday April 24 from noon to 6 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome. No less than 34,000 eggs will be hidden in the hippodrome. A special area will be set aside for children under 4 years of age.
  • Bercy Village (28, rue François Truffaut, 75012 Paris) is holding a chocolate fondue event and free chocolate workshops for children on Sunday, April 24 and Monday, April 25, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
