This week, from October 28 to 30, 2015, twenty of the most talented chocolatiers and pastry chefs from as many countries will gather in Paris to compete in the biggest event in the world of chocolate, the World Chocolate Masters – World Final. They will battle it out to win the coveted title of 2015 World Chocolate Master.

For the first time ever, this chocolate championship will be held at the Salon du Chocolat’s consumer show. (The competition was formerly reserved for the Salon’s professional edition.)

The event can be followed around the world as it will be livestreamed over the Internet at www.worldchocolatemasters.com, as well as on the World Chocolate Masters channel on Youtube.

New this year: Members of the public can vote for their favourite chef in the chocolate showpiece segment of the competition. Each finalist is required to create a one- to two-meter high 100 per-cent chocolate showpiece balanced on a 40cm x 40cm base. It is a challenge that requires exceptional chocolate creativity, enormous discipline and incredible skill. The finished results are among the most spectacular chocolate creations you’ll ever see! The finalist with the highest score will be awarded the World Chocolate Masters Social Media Award, and the winner will be announced during a prize-giving ceremony on October 30, 2015.

In addition to the showpiece, contestants will also be required to create a sweet snack on the go, a “My Or Noir chocolate,” a moulded praline, a pâtisserie of the day, plus an artistic creation based on the theme “Where Nature Goes.” An international jury composed of celebrity chefs and master chocolatiers will select winners in each category, as well as an overall champion.

The World Chocolate Masters is the world’s leading global culinary competition dedicated solely to the art of chocolate. Held every two years, the event is hosted by gourmet chocolate brand Cacao Barry and unites 20 participating countries from across the globe. Competitors first prove themselves during national selections, where winners are picked to represent their country during the finals at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris.

In 2013, the winner of the World Chocolate Master title was Davide Comaschi, of Italy.
