The 7th annual edition of Jour du Macaron takes place on Tuesday March 20, 2012.
This popular event, a celebration of the sweet and delicate double-sided macaron, is one that is eagerly anticipated by macaron lovers each year.
The way it works is deliciously simple. Visitors to Pierre Hermé, Sadaharu Aoki, Laurent Duchêne, Jean-Paul Hévin, Arnaud Larher, Christophe Roussel and Dalloyau shops in Paris will be offered free macarons on March 20. In turn, the stores will be accepting donations for Autistes sans frontières, an organisation that helps children with autism lead better lives.
First held in 2005, Jour du Macaron was launched by Pierre Hermé in the aim of creating a gourmand event in support of charities, notably those that help children afflicted by rare diseases and other ailments.
The sweet celebration is not just happening in Paris. Pierre Hermé in the U.K., along with numerous Relais Dessert member pâtisseries throughout France, will also be participating in Jour du Macaron.
A number of establishments in the United States, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland will be taking part as well.
In Japan, Jour du Macaron will be held in Pierre Hermé shops on June 21, 2012.
