Saturday, November 17 marked the launch of Patrick Roger‘s newest boutique in Paris on the very chic place de la Madeleine.
But it’s not your typical chocolate shop.
Described by the master chocolatier himself as a “chocolate mine,” the stunning shop is a magnificent showcase for Roger’s chocolate art, as well as his marvellous gourmet chocolate creations.
No less than three floors are devoted to chocolate in all its forms!
The basement is the “mine,” with its chocolate-covered walls, piles of “raw” chocolate and massive chocolate honeycomb-like cells displayed next to sleek bronze and aluminum sculptures.
The main floor is devoted to tasting chocolate, with Patrick Roger’s spectacular array of chocolate collections, known for their exotic and refined flavour combinations.
Up above, the first floor houses the artist’s incredible chocolate sculptures, a kind of “chocolate eco-system” with life-sized tree trunks, monkeys and other creatures all carved out of chocolate!
Indeed, a constant theme in Roger’s art is the importance of biodiversity and concern for the planet’s well-being.
Patrick Roger, who holds the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France, is known for his striking chocolate sculptures and unusual window displays.
He has five other stores in Paris, two in the suburbs and one in Brussels.
The new “chocolate mine” is open seven days a week.
