Bûche de Noël may be a traditional dessert, but Paris pastry chefs are always coming up with new designs!
This year, the five-star Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal (1st arr.) is offering a bûche de Noël modelled on the gigantic chest located near the hotel’s majestic staircase and designed by interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon.
Created by Chef Jean-Yves Bournot, who heads the historic hotel’s restaurant “Le Lulli,” this whimsical bûche features a rich ganache and a Joconde biscuit. Its all-chocolate ironwork finishings and a superb ochre coating give this bûche its very distinctive look.
Chef Bournot, who joined Le Lulli following the hotel’s reopening in 2013 after extensive renovations, previously worked at Le Meurice. Bûche “Malle” is the hotel’s first-ever bûche de Noël.
