Chocolate is in the air in Paris with the city’s annual Salon du Chocolat only weeks away. Taking place from October 29 to November 2, 2014 at Porte de Versailles, the popular gourmand event promises to serve up a feast for the senses, with dazzling displays of chocolate in all its forms!
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the annual five-day chocolate festival that brings together the top names in French chocolate and pastry and chocolate enthusiasts from around the world.
The theme this year is “Chocolate, a universal heritage,” a tribute to what is arguably the world’s favourite treat and the unique bonds it has forged between peoples on every continent.
Artisan chocolatiers, cocoa producers and other industry professionals will be on hand to present their latest products. Indeed, more than 500 participants are taking part, with two levels and 20,000 square metres of exhibition space devoted to chocolate.
As with past editions, the Salon will feature chocolate and pastry demonstrations and workshops, interactive presentations, seminars, book signings, music & entertainment and plenty of chocolate tastings, not to mention the stunning chocolate fashion show that takes place every afternoon.
Among the dozens of featured artisans are François Pralus, Jean-Paul Hévin, Pierre Marcolini, Jean-Charles Rochoux, Arnaud-Larher, Sadaharu Aoki and numerous other leading Paris chocolatiers.
New exhibitors in 2014 include Dalloyau, Jadis et Gourmande and Galler.
Since its inception in 1995, the Salon du Chocolat has grown to include events throughout France and abroad. In 2014/2015, Chocolate shows are also taking place in Bordeaux, Cannes, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse and Monaco, as well as Beirut, Brussels, Cairo, Salvador da Bahia, London, New York, Seoul, Shanghai and various cities in Japan.
